On January 4, Abu Dhabi-based innovative technology company AIQ partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the latter’s certified partner to bring WellInsight, an energy industry automation solution, to the AWS platform to provide related services to customers around the world. At the same time, AIQ also became the first local software service solution provider in the GCC energy sector to sell its products through the AWS Marketplace.

WellInsight is an energy technology solution empowered and powered by artificial intelligence systems that can help rock geologists and engineers gain a deeper understanding of reservoir characteristics and thus enhance exploration success. As a joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and UAE tech giant G42, AIQ focuses on the development and commercialization of artificial intelligence products and applications for the oil and gas industry.

“WellInsight provides a platform for the global energy industry to automate and improve wellbore analysis.” Chris Cooper, CEO of AIQ, said, “This artificial intelligence-based solution allows for more precise drilling locations, better understanding of well conditions, increased production and reduced carbon footprint.”

Meanwhile, oil services giant Halliburton has also partnered with Libra, a consortium led by Petrobras, to develop digital twin technology for Mero, a pre-salt ultra-deepwater field in Brazil. The technology brings together asset sensors, data, and models, including 4D earthquakes, as well as intelligent completions through systems with real-time views of reservoirs, wells, and facilities, which will facilitate asset characterization, active reservoir monitoring, and asset operations planning and optimization.
